THE GO4IT WEEKLY ISSUE #26

Rest is not retreat, it’s the refuel that keeps your mission alive.

THIS WEEK’S WORD

Marlon was the guy everyone admired.
Dependable. Consistent. Motivated.
The type of man who showed up early, stayed late,
carried responsibility,
and made it look easy.

But lately… nothing felt easy.

He wasn’t crashing he was coasting on fumes.
Every part of life felt heavier: his assignments,
his conversations, even his prayers.

People kept telling him,
Bro, you need to push through,
but deep down he knew the truth.
He didn’t need to push he needed to pause.

One afternoon, after another nonstop week filled with meetings,
ministry, family duties, and unfinished goals, Marlon pulled into a parking lot
and just… stopped.

Not emotionally. Not spiritually. Just physically stopped.
Turned the engine off and let silence sit.
At first, the quiet felt uncomfortable.
Then it felt necessary.
Then it felt holy.

As he sat there, eyes closed, shoulders sinking, he felt God whisper.
You cannot complete a divine mission on an empty tank.

Marlon realized he had mastered working…
but not resting. He had been pouring, giving, leading,
serving but never receiving. So, he made a decision right there.

I will rest BEFORE I break, not AFTER.
This was not quitting. This was recalibrating.

And once he embraced rest as a strategy his clarity returned.
His focus sharpened. His strength stabilized.
His purpose began breathing again.

The mission did not get lighter. Marlon simply got stronger.

GO4IT LIFE PILLARS

Rest Is Part of the Workout

Marlon used to think rest was something you “earned.”
Push first, crash later. Grind now, recover someday.
But the truth hit him hard: Muscles don’t grow when you lift,
they grow when you rest. His body was speaking,
but he wasn’t listening. Rest became a discipline,
not a reward.

Your GO4IT Move

  • Schedule a weekly “rest workout”, stretching, breathing,
    or light movement.

  • Protect your sleep like you protect your goals.

  • Build recovery into your routine, not as an afterthought
    but as a priority

Your body is not a machine.
Even machines overheat without cooldowns

Rest Creates Mental Clarity for Better Decisions

When Marlon was tired, he noticed he would overspend,
procrastinate budgeting, or avoid important financial decisions.
Fatigue clouds judgment.

But once he rested, the fog lifted.
He saw opportunities clearly.
He noticed wasteful spending.
He planned with confidence, not anxiety.

Your GO4IT Move

  •  Do your financial planning when you’re rested, not rushed

  • Set a weekly Financial Clarity Hour

  • Use rest as a financial strategy clarity prevents costly mistakes

A rested mind is a wise steward.

Presence Requires Peace

Marlon loved his family deeply,
but he realized something painful:
He was present in the room but absent in spirit.

Exhaustion made him short-tempered.
Distraction made him distant.
Overload made him unavailable.

When he began resting, however, everything shifted.
Conversations felt lighter.
Connection felt natural.
Joy returned.

Your GO4IT Move

  •  Choose one daily peace moment with your family

  • Invite calm, laughter, and lightness back into your home

  • Let rest restore the tone of your relationships

Your loved ones don’t need a tired version of you.
They need a peaceful you.

Rest Realigns Your Emotions

Exhaustion distorts emotions.
Everything feels bigger, heavier, louder.

Marlon discovered that when he was tired:
he took things personally, reacted quickly,
and misunderstood easily.

But when he rested: he listened better,
responded with grace and saw people
through a healthier emotional lens.

Your GO4IT Move

  •  Delay serious conversations when you are depleted

  • Give yourself permission to pause before responding

  • Use rest to reset emotional clarity

Rest protects you from unnecessary conflict.

You Can’t Run Toward Destiny Exhausted

Marlon realized he was not losing vision
he was losing energy. When he rested,
ideas returned. Dreams revived.
Strategies sharpened.

Rest did not take him away from his future
it reintroduced him to it.

Your GO4IT Move

  • Revisit your goals after rest, not before

  • Rewrite your dream list with fresh eyes

  • Let rest restore your creative fire

Your future requires a refreshed version of you.

Even Jesus Rested

Marlon found comfort and conviction in this truth:
Jesus performed miracles… and then withdrew to rest.
Jesus taught multitudes… and then stepped away for silence.
Jesus carried a cross… but still modeled Sabbath.

If Jesus rested, so must we.

Your GO4IT Move

  •  Practice spiritual rest silence, stillness, and reflection

  • Pray: God, renew my strength from the inside out.

  • Let rest become a form of worship

Rest is spiritual alignment, not spiritual laziness.

COACH TYUS NOTE

Listen. Rest is not an escape from your calling.
It’s the investment your calling requires.
You cannot pour from an empty cup.
You cannot lead from an exhausted spirit.
You cannot build the future God showed you
if today’s energy is gone.

This week, choose rest like a leader.
Choose rest like a warrior. Choose rest like someone
who knows their mission matters too much to burn out.

Rest is fuel.
Rest is focus.
Rest is faith in action.

Stay focused. Stay ready. Move forward.
